Horizontal Board Fence Using Post Master Posts

Sometimes a customer has a very specific idea about what they want.  That's what we have here with this horizontal 4" clear cedar board fence.  It was patterned after a picture in a magazine.  What a fun fence to install.  (Yes, fencing is fun, especially if you're making something unique)

This fence started off as wet rough sawn clear 1" x 6" x 6' boards.  All of the boards had to be dried, ripped down to 4" and then sanded on a very large stroke sander.  The boards were then hand stained and dried.  After installing the Post Master Post framework every spot that needed a stainless steel screw was pre-drilled.  The gate alone required over 100 screws, and each 5' panel needed about 75 screws.  That was alot of drilling, but the end results turned out pretty nice.

Cast Iron Light Pole with Glass Top

THE LIGHT POLE

After completing a fence on this site we moved this very heavy cast iron light pole from the owner's old property to it's new location.  Underground conduit was run to the basement of the home, and we poured the 1,100 pound concrete base for the pole.  Next we wanted to install the anchor bolts and lift the post into place.  The problem was that the pole was so heavy we would not be able to lift it over the bolts without bringing in a skid steer.  We decided to hammer drill four 1" holes for the 3/4" anchor bolts.  We filled the holes with anchoring cement, tilted the post into position, and then pushed the threaded rod (with nut and washer on top) into the already filled holes.  Twenty minutes later the bolts set and the post was anchored.  Soon the fragile glass top was installed, and this light was ready for the electrician.
